We are committed to providing the best chance of recovery for our patients with burns.

The 6 bedded Burns Unit for adults is based at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital, in the Huntsman building, on E floor.

It provides a service managed and supported by 3 Consultant Burn Surgeons who also work within the Burns Unit at The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield. The adult Burns Unit provides a comprehensive in-patient, out-patient and emergency service for the local population of Sheffield, and also to the wider North Trent population; approximately 2 million in total.

Our Burns Unit is well supported by the full range of clinical specialties within Sheffield Teaching Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust and also by comprehensive support services.

The Children’s Hospital Burns Unit Family Support Nurses run the children’s clinic at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. They will work with the young person to tailor their transition to their needs. The Family Support Nurses are able to arrange meetings with the adult multidisciplinary team and before their first appointment are able to take the young person to the Adults Burns Unit to show them around. They are also able to accompany the young person to their first clinic appointment.
