Your goals and treatment

typical goals

At your first appointment your doctor will ask if you have any concerns, or areas of your burn that are particularly bothering you. They will ask what your thoughts are about future treatment or surgery. What are your goals? It is good to have thought about this beforehand and also to discuss ideas with the surgeon about what is possible. It can sometimes be helpful to talk about a short, medium and long term plan.

Remember, the treatment you need might not just be further surgery. It might be thinking about future scar management options, physiotherapy, the need for camouflage make-up, or psychological care.

Your surgeon might give you some options to think about for your next appointment.
